Sunday Breakfast

For what seems like forever, we've had pancakes for breakfast on Sunday mornings. It's something Rob started doing for me when I was pregnant with Mairin, and it's more or less continued until this day, only now I cook the pancakes.

This morning Mairin requested waffles instead of pancakes. I like waffles, so I thought I would humor her and make some waffles instead. I had some frozen blueberries, and I love blueberry waffles, so it seemed like a good change from our usual Sunday morning breakfast. I don't usually make the pancakes from scratch, I just use a mix, add in some rice milk and oil and cook them up. However, I'm going to have to find a good recipe, because the mix I've been using has dried milk in it, so they aren't quite dairy free.

We like to top our pancakes with Grade B pure maple syrup. On the side we had some vegan sausage and some blood oranges. The blood oranges at WFM are out of this world right now, I've been eating a lot of them. Although, you wouldn't know I'd been eating some extra Vitamin C by the killer cold I have at the moment.....uuugh!!

Yum. I think I need to invest in a waffle iron. Maybe I also need to invest my time into getting a WFM here. I can't even get blood oranges here!

I don't know, I have a love/hate relationship with WFM. There are so many things I hate about it, but on the other hand, they are the only nautral grocer near us (with the exception of a little HFS that carries a few things I can pick up now and then). Since the bought out Wild Oats and have no local competition their service has really taken a turn for the worse here.

We are planning a trip to Morgantown to visit friends this summer, maybe if the blood oranges are still around we can arrange a meetup and I can get some to you.

I know what you mean about WFM. In a way, I'd love to have one here. I would have more diverse produce available. I feel like any other item I need, I can get at our natural foods co-op. Then in the summer, I get all kinds of diverse produce from the CSA. So, maybe 8 months out of the year I'd like to have one just for produce. LOL I would definitely worry that it would put our wonderful co-op out of business.

If you come to Morgantown, we should meet up for some coffee or something!
